Macular Degeneration Risk Assessment

Age-related macular degeneration is a debilitating disease affecting the macula, the area in the eye responsible for central vision. Macular degeneration represents one of the most significant causes of vision loss in older adults.

Norwalk Eye Care is proud to be one of the first practices in the country to assess our patients’ risk of developing macular degeneration. We use a simple, non-invasive test to measure the density of pigment protecting the macula. Based on the information given by the test, your doctor can determine your level of risk, and if supplemental intervention is recommended to increase the level of macular pigmentation.
